Suggested Assignments

If you are interested in exposing your students to career exploration & job search strategies, we have many suggestions for possible assignments:
  • Research current job market trends for internship/career positions listed on the Center's SpartaJOBS.
  • Use the employer directory to link directly to employer web sites and gather industry and company information related to class content.
  • Use other materials and resources available in the Center's Career Resources Library (videotapes, CD-ROMs, career software/databases) to obtain information related to class content.
  • Conduct informational interviews with SJSU alumni to further research major and career possibilities.
  • Find academic, industry, and salary information using our on-line and hard copy resources.
  • Perform values and interest assessments using the Eureka program or other assessment tools.
  • Job Hunting I - Select a resume format from samples on the Center's web site and construct a personal resume and cover letter in response to an internship and/or career position currently listed on SpartaJOBS.
  • Job Hunting II - Review Job Hunting I resumes and cover letters in groups. Conduct mock interviews using the interview preparation information and sample questions on the Center's web site.
