NEW on-line videos all about Resumes

The SJSU Career Center is pleased to introduce you to an excellent series of on-line videos on the topic of Resumes. Created by the York University Career Center Team in Ontario, Canada, they have generously given the SJSU Career Center permission to share these award-winning videos with our campus community. The information about resume writing in the series is very current, relevant, and extensive. The Staff of the Career Center hopes this series will be beneficial to you as you write a resume, refine your resume, and create a strong targeted resume.

The Resume videos are broken down into four main categories:

  • Anatomy of a Resume
Explore the variety of sections you could include on your resume and determine which ones will be the most effective in your job search.
  • Highlighting Your Education
Gain insights on how to highlight your education on your resume. This video is geared towards a Canadian-based student population, so some of the information may not be relevant to SJSU students.

All four of the videos provide great information and examples of how to create a resume that makes an impact. Keep in mind that these videos were developed for a Canadian-based population and will contain examples of Canadian-based employers, yet the information is 100% transferable to the SJSU population. Go to the York CareerCyberGuide resume page.

Under each of the Resume sections in York’s CareerCyberGuide you will find some good handouts with Sample Resumes and a comprehensive list of active verbs that complement the video series. On the SJSU Career Center site you will also find additional information about resumes as well as lots of examples of SJSU student resumes.
