Tips for Teachers

Job search in education is a little different than searches in other fields. In addition to completing an employer application form, candidates are usually expected to submit both a copy of their professional file and a targeted education resume.
At popular venue used by education employers to connect with candidates is the teacher recruitment fair. Education organizations that anticipate openings will send representatives who are authorized to interview and frequently to offer contracts to individual candidates.

Fairs are usually sponsored and coordinated by large organizations like the California Association of Employers in Education (CAEE), county departments of education or school districts. The CAEE web site has information about their upcoming job fairs and comprehensive tips for teachers on district hiring practices and what to do before, during and after attending teacher recruitment fairs.

Also check our Teacher Fair listings under Upcoming Events for fair announcements received by the Career Center. Good luck in your job search endeavors.

If you have any career-related questions about the teaching field, stop by the Career Center for additional assistance and resources.

Good luck in your job search endeavors!
