The CONNECTIONS newsletter provides updates on SJSU Career Center programs and events, college recruiting trends and best practices and noteworthy news about San Jose State University. This newsletter, formerly LINK, was renamed in alignment with the “Get Connected” motto of the Career Center. Our goal is to get you connected to our diverse and talented SJSU student population to meet your hiring needs.

SJSU Ranked in Top 10 Best Colleges
Once again, SJSU excels in the U.S. News & World Report magazine's college rankings. The 2007 edition of “America's Best Colleges,” which is now available on newsstands and online, shows SJSU tied for 10th place among the West's top public universities offering bachelor's and master's degrees. The University also tied for 12th place among the nation's best undergraduate engineering programs and fifth among the nation's best undergraduate computer engineering programs. To summarize, San José State maintained its position among the West's top public universities, jumped two places in engineering, and received recognition for its outstanding computer engineering program, which was not rated among the top five last year. SJSU Scores High in Diversity Study
SJSU was the nation's No. 1 producer of Asian Americans with bachelor's degrees in business management and the health professions during the 2004-2005 academic year, according to a study published in a recent issue of Diverse Issues in Highe r Education magazine. The study, which examined bachelor's degrees conferred to African American, Asian American, Hispanic and Native American students nationwide during 2004-2005, ranked SJSU 10th overall in terms of the number of degrees granted to minorities. SJSU also placed in the top 15 for degrees granted to minorities in specific disciplines, including computer and information science, engineering, and the health professions.

Starting Salary Offers to New College Grads Continue to Climb Starting salary offers to new college graduates continue to climb, extending a trend seen throughout the 2005-06 academic year, according to a new salary report from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). The Fall 2006 Salary Survey report shows that starting salary offers are up for many disciplines at the bachelor's degree level.
